Sabbagh: War on Syria caused over SYP.1069 billion worth of damage to industrial sector/ By Basma Qaddour

DAMASCUS, DEC.8, (ST)-The Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh declared on Wednesday that the war of terror on Syria had caused over SYP.1069 billion worth of damage to the public and private sectors in the field of industry.

He added that 50.000 private facilities out of  137.000 ones are not working, pointing out that the value of actual production reached 658 billion Syrian Pounds until the end of last September while the value of actual sales reached SYP. 644 billion.

The minister in addition clarified that the number of industrial facilities licensed under law No.21 during the third quarter of this year reached 923 while the number of facilities that have been carried out reached 291.

He indicated that the production capacity of the medical company of Tamiko reached 80% after it was rehabilitated.

In this context, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported in October, 2021 that the sales of the Arab Company for Pharmaceutical Industry “Tamiko” of medicines during the first nine months of this year exceeded SYP 12.3 billion with an increase of 216 percent in comparison with the same period last year.

Sabbagh’s remarks came  during a press conference held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information in Damascus.
